Heroin worth Rs.25 crore seized at BOP New Mohammdi Wala

Ferozepur, October 1, 2014: Tightening the noose over drug paddling, the ever vigilant BSF sleuths busted yet another attempt of smuggling and recovered five kilogram heroin from Border Out Post (BoP) New Mohammadi Wala. Besides, a Nokia mobile phone along with two Pakistani SIM cards were also recovered.
R K Thapa, DIG, Ferozepur Sector said, that the BSF jawans deputed along the zero line at BOP Mohammadi Wala observed some suspicious movement during the wee hours and found three persons throwing few packets of contraband, suspected to be heroin across the fence. They also observed one person on Indian Territory, who was suspected to be there to receive those packets. They immediately challenged them but when they didn’t stop, they started firing at them.
However, all the miscreants managed to flee taking advantage of darkness and thick sarkandas. A special hunt was ordered by Commanding Officer VP Singh. During search operation, the BSF jawans found five packets of contraband, suspected to be heroin along with one Nokia mobile and two Pakistani SIM cards.
DIG R K Thapa said that BSF is also hunting for the person belonged to this side, who had managed to escape. DIG said that the international value of the heroin seized today is Rs.25 crore.
Marcus Masih, DC (G) and V P Singh, Commanding Officer, were also present on this occasion.
