Hectic activities on for election of President and VP of MC Khanna

Khanna, March 11, 2015: Hectic activities are on for the election of President and Vice President of Municipal Council Khanna as ADC cum SDM Khanna Ajay Sood has announced March 13 date for this election. But the picture is still unclear as SAD- BJP and Congress are trying their best to win these important posts.

Although Congress has win 14 seats and one Congress supported candidate was said to have win and Congress has emerged as a big party but there is no unanimous choice for the post of President. Gurminder Singh Lali is termed as front runner for this post but a group of Congress said to be having about 5-6 MCs support is not in favour of Lali although he claimed that they are very near to win the post of President. 

Similar position has emerged in SAD–BJP also which have won 11 seats including 6 by SAD and 5 by BJP as there is no united choice although former President Iqbal Singh is said to be again favourite and Rajinder Singh Jeet is also trying his best efforts for this post. 

A former BJP leader Anil Datt Phally who was expelled from BJP during elections had won his own seat and his wife Rajni Phally had also won and he is key player during this election. Iqbal Singh when contacted claimed that a meeting of all MCs was held at Ludhiana in which majority of MCs expressed their views in his favor infront of District President Akali Dal Santa Singh Umaidpuri and Jathedar Tota Singh and he also claimed that they have mustered support of required MCs and will win this post and he will again be President of MC Khanna. 

Halka Incharge Akali Dal and former MLA Ranjit Singh Talwandi when contacted said that they are hundred percent confident of win and Iqbal Singh will be party candidate and next President of MC Khanna. Meanwhile Yadvinder Singh Yadu youth Akali Dal leader said that they have appealed party high command to announce right candidate and they are not in favour of Iqbal Singh for the post of President and said that Rajinder Singh Jeet is the best choice for this post.  However Congress MLA Khanna Gurkirat Singh Kotli failed to attend the  phone even after repeated attempts.
