Chandigarh, May 31, 2016: An important meeting of Office bearers of Haryana Olympic Association (HOA) was held at Haryana Niwas, Chandigarh. The meeting was chaired by the Association’s President Shyam Singh Rana, who is also a Chief Parliamentary Secretary in the Haryana Government. Chairman of the Association Dr Pawan Saini, Vice President Mrs. Seema Trikha, State Minister in Haryana Mr. Naib Singh Saini, Vice President Mr. Bakshish Singh Zirak, MLA Mr. Kulwant Ram Baazigar were also present. In the meeting a unanimous decision was taken to restart the sports competitions at block & district level forthwith. These tournaments were not happening since many years.

“The aim is to hunt for sporting talent in rural Haryana & then train these young boys & girls for bigger level tournaments. “ Said Shyam Singh Rana, President, HOA.

The following sports were chosen to be promoted at the block level – National Kabaddi, wrestling, kho kho, volleyball and athletics. It was also decided that the upcoming International Olympic Day on June 23 will be celebrated in Kaithal district with great fervor. It was also decided that for smooth conduct of sports training camps & tournaments at district level 21 member committees’ will be appointed at every block & district.

General Secretary of the Association Naresh Malik greeted all the office bearers. On this occasion the Association’s treasurer Chanderpal Rana, Joint Sectretary Ashok Sukhija, Mr Ashok Goyal, Mr Dev Malik, Rajkamal Dhada, Krira Bharti’s President Dr Jitendra Singh, Retd DSP Azaad Singh Rathi & Mr Satish Kumar were also present.
