Chandigarh, December 28, 2016: Bringing laurels of city beautiful, 11-year-old budding golfer Ayaan Gupta, a student of Strawberry Field International School Chandigarh won Pondok Indah International Junior Golf Championship held in Jakarta. The tournament was held from 19th to 22nd December in which 120 junior golfers from 15 countries participated. He lead the field by shooting a score of 160.

He has been playing golf since he was 5 nationally as well as internationally. He has played more than 9 international tournaments till now. As a national player he participated in IGU sub junior tour , ALBATROSS junior tour , Little Masters junior tour and all other local tournaments held in Chandigarh. He also participated in Ultimate US Kids Junior and currently practices at Chandigarh Golf Club under the eyes of professional certified coaches. Recently he won Sub-Junior IGU North Zone Sub junior tournament that was held in Forest Hill Golf Club, Chandigarh and won by 14 shots.

Ayaan's 2017 calendar is packed with National and International Tournaments. He is likely to play Junior Tour in Europe, North America & Asia. As Ayaan says that a woman is behind every successful man and credit goes to his mother and his father who always stood as a pillar in his support.

Ayaan has more than 40 trophies and many more to go on the way. Ayaan has also won many gold medals in sprinting athletics, running and has been awarded with maximum gold medals in school. Ayaan has also participated in Chess Tournaments. He would like to thank his swing instructor Akshay Sharma, his mentor Sandeep Verma who has been an Olympian Golf Coach, Irina Singh for Mental Coaching and his caddies Monty and Ram.

“I am very happy with this achievement. The conditions were tough and were adverse to what I practiced for. But luckily, my hard work paid me well. I hope, my 2017 year will also bring such more laurels for me. Next year, I will be playing junior international and will also look forward to play in many more junior leagues,” Said the 11-year-old golfer. He added, “My parents and entire coaching staff helped me to improve my game over the years. I am eyeing to play for India in Olympics but first I have to make my name in the national and international golfing arena. Hope, I will achieve this in coming years with all best wishes from parents and coaches.”
