Haryana CM advised officers to render selfless services to society

New Delhi, November 9, 2014: Haryana’s new Chief Minister Manohar Lal today advised the officers to render selfless service to the society and ensure efficient, responsive and transparent administration.

The Chief Minister was presiding over a meeting of officers of district administration in Rohtak today.

He described officers as trustees of the public and said that they have sanity which should be utilised to improve the administrative system and work  in larger interest of public.          

He called upon the officers to make earnest efforts to ensure effective and transparent governance in the state. He also underlined the significance of democratic system saying that there should be no gap between the people and the Government. “The people should not feel that they are being ruled by someone. We all are integral part of society and public is our own. We should complete all administrative works with this spirit”, he added.

Referring to the issue of corruption, the Chief Minister reminded that former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi had said that if one rupee is released for public welfare, only 15 paisa reach the actual beneficiary.  If corruption had been taken as a challenge at that time, it could have been completely eliminated.

While referring to the speech delivered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Independence Day, Manohar Lal said that  Modi described himself as chief servant of the nation. All the officers of the administration would have to understand that what kind of work government wants from them. Haryana Government wants to set up such an administrative system that would fulfill aspirations of the people in real terms.

The Chief Minister said that state government has decided to set up Chief Minster window at district level so as to enable the people het their grievances redressed at local level. He said that the government wanted that time and money of people should not be wasted and they need not to visit Chandigarh frequently for their works. He said that all the works would be completed at local level after setting up Chief Minister window at district level.

He said that benefit of welfare schemes and programmes should first reach the needy. Priority of the government is to fulfill basic needs of the people and all officers must work keeping in view the same spirit. Apart from that, state government would welcome all suggestion of public interest.

He said that hard work should be done to make the land fertile where there is salinity so as to benefit the farmers. He said that there is a need to make sanitation a part of everyone’s life. Government is getting immense cooperation of people in ‘Swacch Haryana-Swacch Bharat’ campaign. He also stressed the need of waste management.

 While referring to his association with Rohtak district, Manohar Lal said that his ancestral village was in district Rohtak. He said that he was born in Nidana village, got school education from village Baniyani and Bhali and got higher education from Pt, Neki Ram Sharma College.

Those present on this occasion included Rohtak MLA, . Manish Grover, District BJP President,  Ramesh Bhatia, senior officers of district administration and other dignitaries.
