Ludhiana, November 24, 2016: A training programme on “Principle and preparation of fruit Cake” and “Icings on sponge cake” was conducted by Department of Food Processing and Quality Management of G.H.G Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar on 23rd of November. The training programme focused on the details of ingredients and preparation of different types of Cakes and the principle underlying their preparation. This was first-hand experience for students in an attempt to provide them the skilled component. Ms. Shannu Sharma demonstrated the procedural details of pineapple cherry cake, walnut banana cake and the icings to decorate the cake. She made a beautiful doll cake and decorated it by making flowers and frills of the doll by her art of icing. The students got to learn not only the methods but also many technical aspects behind the addition of various ingredients in cakes. It was a great learning experience for students who were keen to learn details of baking and icing. They showed the great enthusiasm and interest and participated actively in the programme. Dr. Varinder Kaur Thind, Director Development and Dr. S.S. Deol, Principal G.H.G. Khalsa College encouraged the idea of giving students the practical exposures.
