Citizen Can Avail The Facility Till May 31
Chandigarh, April 17, 2015: The Punjab Government has extended a special chance for citizen for getting the unauthorised water and sewerage connection regularised by paying one time amount that included user charges of one year and connection fees. The citizen can avail this facility till May 31, 2015.
Disclosing this here today Anil Joshi, Minister for Local Bodies, said that after May 31, 2015 strict action would be taken against those citizens having illegal water and sewerage connection. The penalty of three year user charges, connection fees and road cutting charges would be imposed on all these offenders.
Divulging detail Joshi said a care has been taken to impose only nominal charges from small households and only Rs. 100 each for Water Supply and Sewerage connection would be levied from the household of 125 square feet area. No other user chargers would be collected from such household.
He said that from the household of 125 to 250 square feet Rs. 250 each for Water Supply and Sewerage connection would be charged; apart from this amount user charges from April 1, 2014 would also be collected. Similarly from the household of more than 250 square feet Rs. 500 each for Water Supply and Sewerage connection would be charged; apart from this amount user charges from April 1, 2014 would also be collected.
The Minister said that the commercial units of 250 square feet Rs. 500 each for Water Supply and Sewerage connection would be charged; apart from this amount user charges from April 1, 2014 would also be collected. Similarly commercial units of more than 250 square feet Rs. 750 each for Water Supply and Sewerage connection would be charged; apart from this amount user charges from April 1, 2014.
The Minister also instructed officers of the department to launch a special awareness drive to sensitise the public about this scheme. He directed department officials to prepare the list of illegal connection after the closure.
