Chandigarh, April 24, 2015:
In a unique attempt to enable master’s degree students become skilled at research
methodologies, four students have successfully completed research projects in different
areas related to Fashion and Lifestyle at University Institute of Fashion Technology
(UIFT), Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh this semester.
MSc students of UIFT&VD are offered the choice of presenting a research project or
participating in the annual design collection each year.
The students conducted research on the themes of “An analytical study of fashion
clothing among young women working in shopping malls” by Prabhjot; A study of awareness
of Angora rabbit wool, sheep wool and yak wool garments among the senior citizen of UT,
Chandigarh by Taranum; A Comparative study of purchasing attitude towards apparel and
accessories among the students of urban and rural areas of Punjab by Rajdeep and Fashion
attitude towards the preference of traditional embroidered garments among the teaching
and non-teaching staff of Panjab University by Samreen.
The research was presented before a jury of eminent professionals from fashion
industry. The students efforts have been appreciated by the department particularly
because they took an initiative into research at master’s degree level instead of
waiting for a doctoral degree opportunity, said Dr Sween, Co-ordinator, UIFT & VD. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
