Five Day Tetrasoft Hyderabad Marriott International Open Fide Rating Chess Tournament-2018 concludes

IM Saravana Krishnan P clinched the title and walked away with cash prize of Rs.75,000

Hyderabad, September 24, 2018: International Master Saravana Krishnan P- Karur Vysya Bank clinches the title of the Five Day Tetrasoft Hyderabad Marriott FIDE Rated Open Chess Tournament which concluded here in a city hotel on Sunday night.

This event witnessed a record of 274 players with 223 International Rated players from 15 States across India and special units from Southern Railways, ICF Andhra Bank and KVB. Four Grandmasters and Six International Masters too participated in the tournament.

The another feather in its cap was to organized in a five star venue—The Hotel Marriott and that with a total cash prize of Rs Five Lakhs. All the rounds went on as per the schedule without any delay. All rounds where made Swiss Manager pairing software for the nine rounds.

The tournament witness the oldest man, youngest girl, the visually challenged participating in it.

At the end of the Tournament International Master Saravana Krishnan P and Grandmaster Deepan Chakravarthy J from ICF tied for the first with 8 points each but a better tie-break helped International Master Saravana Krishnan P – KVB and emerged as Champion of the event.

IM Saravana Krishnan P took home the winners’ purse of Rs. 75,000/- (Seventy Five Thousand Only) followed by Grandmaster Deepan Chakkarathy with Rs. 50,000/- (Fifty Thousand only) as runner cash award.

KS Prasad , Secretary of Telangana State Chess Association, Major Shiva Prasad –Vice President of TSCA gave away the prizes.

The objective of the Tetrasoft Hyderabad Marriott Intl Open Fide Rating Chess tournament, according to Tetrasoft and Telangana Chess Association officials, is to improve and promote the game.

Tetrasoft India powered the tournament, the Provider of Information Technology and Consulting Services in collaboration with Hyderabad Marriott and The Telangana State Chess Association.

The five day battle of minds was organized by the ACT, Indian Chess School, and South Mumbai Chess Academy. The Tournament is conducted the second time in a row. This is the first time that the tournament is organized at five star hotel.

On the whole, 102 prizes were won in the tournament.
