FIEO Welcomes widening and deepening of MEIS

Ludhiana, September 22, 2016: Thanking the Commerce & Industry Minister for providing additional support to the exports sector, Mr SC Ralhan, President FIEO said that the expansion of MEIS by adding 2901 products will provide wider coverage and now about 70% of total tariff lines as against 46% earlier would be covered under the scheme. The Government has tried to cover as many products as possible under the scheme added President FIEO. The higher MEIS on 575 products will give them added competitiveness to face the increasing global challenges.

Mr Ralhan said that the changes cover agricultural products including marine and industrial goods such as pipes and tubes, machinery, engines, machine tools, textiles and garments, leather goods, handicrafts, glass and ceramics goods which will give a fillip to job creation as well.
