Hyderabad, November 12, 2016: Fifteen ladies who have completed Driving Course from Maruti Motors along with Self Defence Classes and Counseling Sessions, were presented certificates at a function held at a city hotel today.
The training was an initiative of FICCI FLO. The initiative Transport and Skill Development for Training of Women from Grass Root Level was conceived last year.
The women who completed the training was presented certificates by Ms. Prashanthi, the Joint Collector and Additional District Magistrate in the presence of FLO Hyderabad Chairperson Ms. Padma Rajogopal .
"Women in transport" is the national initiative of FICCI FLO under which it was planned to train 1,500 women across the country and in Hyderabad 150 to 200, Padma Rajgopal informed.
It is an initiative; of FLO for empowering women free of cost. It was taken up in association with the Government of Telangana and Maruti Suzuki Driving School, Padma Rajgopal informed
If there is more demand, more such training programs can be conducted, Padma added.
We have been in touch with many NGOs, slums, and its members to support the initiative by identifying 180 to 200 and the process is on. Identifying these poor women, motivate them to take up the training has been a gigantic task as most of them wanted to learn driving for knowledge and not for becoming drivers. Even ensuring those shortlisted complete their classes with seriousness. Another challenge was to place them once they completed the training, Padma informed.
