Falsely implicated in 2G case, says Raja aide Chandolia

New Delhi, May 7 (IANS) Former telecom minister A. Raja's erstwhile private secretary R. K. Chandolia Wednesday told the court that he was falsely implicated in the 2G spectrum allocation case.

Chandolia, while recording his statement in the case, told Central Bureau of Investigation Special Judge O.P. Saini that the prosecution witnesses in the case has deposed against him under fear of being made an accused.

Chandolia was handed over 1,700 questions running into 824 pages March 27 by the court. The questions are part of the recording of the statement of accused in the case.

Replying to the questions, he further said that CBI did not find any evidence against him and accused the investigating agency for implicating him in the case through false and fabricated statements.

Chandolia claimed that Asservatham Achary, former additional private secretary to Raja, did not like his hierarchical superiority over him and has given evidence against him out of that envious feelings.

According to the government auditor, Raja was biased while distributing 2G mobile airwaves and operating licences to telecom firms, causing a loss of up to Rs.1.76 lakh crore in revenue to the treasury.
