Panchkula, October 30, 2012: Panchkula Management Association (PMA) held a seminar on education reforms in its meeting here today. Col. K.K.Sharma, PMA Chairman (Education) made presentation on agenda of reforms in education.

K.K Sharma while making his presentation said that important topics like industry academia collaboration are given lesser priority on any discussions on improvement in education systems. He said there is a huge gap of skills required by corporate and the training imparted in institutions. These two aspects need to be synergized by involving industry in preparing the curriculum. Institutions should invite experts from industry to deliver lectures to pass on their experiences of working on the shop floor.

While commenting on the presentation of Col. Sharma on education, Dr. G. Munjal, president PMA said that let us wait for the government bills on education reforms which are supposed to lay emphasis on quality education and its employability contents. These bills await parliamentary clearances.  He said that professional institutions have to equip themselves to train people who are readily employable in the corporate sector, simultaneously the students entering higher education need to be given proper counseling for adopting a stream of education suitable to their aptitude and interest rather than thrusting a course upon them for which he has little interest.

Dr. Munjal said that the PMA will endeavour for Industry- academia tie-up to help industry, based in District Panchkula. He further said that the association will use its platform to develop the outlook of younger generation so that they do not fall prey to depressing outgoings in the country. We have to ensure that prevalent Political scenario take a back seat and don’t pollute the impressionable minds, added Dr. Munjal.

The forthcoming events of PMA include talks on health management, quality management in industry, and workshop on carbon credits, seminar on research and innovations, and panel discussions on current topics
