Jalandhar, April 22, 2015: Cambridge International School For Girls celebrated Earth Day on Wednesday in the school premises. The motive to celebrate it was to remind each human being of the equal right of each person to the use of this global home and at the same time the equal responsibility each person  has to preserve and improve the earth and the quality of life on it.

Sandeep Chahal  was the guest who shared his valuable thoughts with the students about conserving the House Sparrows . He along with his friends has constituted an NGO – Dastak Welfare Council – to save sparrows. He has been successful in bringing back the chirp of House- Sparrows  to the city life of Jalandhar.

As CISFG believes in practical knowledge girls were made to understand the importance of Earth Day by not only through lectures and demonstrations but they were given the opportunity to do it practically. Kindergarten girls participated very enthusiastically to celebrate Earth Day. Girls of Nursery made beautiful Bird Feeders with the help of their teachers. KG1 girls planted a sapling for their Kitchen Garden and they would be looking after it throughout the year. KG2 girls made paper bags to make children aware of reduce, reuse and recycle of waste. Students from first to fourth grade recited poems on Earth Day. Fifth and sixth grade students exchanged the sapling with their classmates .For seventh and eighth grade corners were allotted to them where they planted their own sapling and will look after them throughout the year. Ninth and tenth standard students were given the task of window- gardening where various groups were formed and each group contributed to it. Not only the students the staff members whole heartedly participated in the activity planned for them which was to exchange plants amongst them. The activity of growing plants was done with exuberance. The message spread far and wide about the care the plants require from mankind for his own survivability.

Another exciting competition was held on the same day.

Rhy-Dhun competition was organized for fourth to eighth grades. The theme given was: Solo Free Style Western Dance;  Solo Instrumental  and Solo Inspirational Singing. Through Rhy-Dhun  singing, dancing and instrumental went hand to hand together. Girls represented themselves beautifully by rendering their talents. It was a great success in stimulating the talent in the students.

Director J.K.Kohli, Academic Director Deepa Dogra, Vice Principal Preeti Sharma and the coordinators were also a part of  Earth Day celebrations. The message given to the girls was to grow peacefully and serve humanity without any selfish motive.
