Dope test first step to tackle police drug mafia nexus: Kalia

Jalandhar, July 8, 2018: Former Punjab Minister, Manoranjan Kalia said it is unfortunate that instead of accepting the proposal, Captain Amriender Singh the Chief Minister has rejected the proposal of cooperation, offered by former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal in tackling the menace of drugs and called it “political gimmick”.
In a statement here today, he said if so what was that when Captain Amriender Singh as State President PPCC took the oath of Gutka Sahib for abolishing the menace of drugs within four weeks of coming to power completely which he failed to do so. Internationally the countries cooperate each other in tackling the menace of drugs and terrorism, what a pity the Chief Minister Capt Amriender Singh has rejected the proposal of cooperation out rightly.
Kalia further said why Sukhpal Singh Khaira, the leader of the opposition is opposing the dope test. It is not understandable. The dope test is the cleansing process in the administration and is just like the process of frisking which is adapted for security purposes. So far as the tackling of the police - drug mafia nexus is concerned, it cannot be mixed with the dope testing and has to be dealt with separately and sternly, he said, adding dope test in fact is a first step to tackle the police drug mafia nexus.
