Jalandhar, October 25, 2014: Cambridge International School,  Chotti  Baradari, and Cambridge International School For Girls celebrated the festival of Diwali with full zeal and fervour but with a difference. Everybody waits for an occasion to celebrate, make merry and ultimately spread joy and laughter. This is what can help to keep one cheerful all the year long. The festival fervor has already gripped the nation and to keep this spirit of festivity alive, To inculcate the value of sharing, the children of Grade I, II and III were motivated to make colourful diyas and candles which were later on gifted to all the helpers in the school. The school also contributed happily to the rice bucket challenge wherein buckets full of rice and sugar were donated to the NGOs. Children took a pledge to celebrate green Diwali and to create awareness among the people of the society and neighborhood. Children made beautiful pledge cards with the message say no to crackers and use earthen diyas. They also made placards on the same theme with slogans like the climate is changing, when will we…,your smoke chokes me..etc.

It was followed by a speech by the children in the assembly in which the students were enlightened over the reason behind the celebration of Diwali. Poems about the triumph of Good over the Evil, Light over Darkness were recited by the children. Awareness was created among the children to celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali this year. Stress was laid upon not to burst crackers as it creates noise as well as environmental pollution which leads to many health hazards and environmental problems. They were told to celebrate it by lighting earthen lamps, Diyas and candles. Children pledged to adhere to the celebration of Diwali in an eco-friendly way. They prayed for a healthy and safe Diwali for all.

Chairman  Ajay Bhatia, Deputy Chairman Deepak Bhatia, Director Learning wings J K Kohli, Nitin Kohli , Academic Director Deepa Dogra , Principal (Co Ed) Kiranjoth Dhillon, Vice Principal(CISFG) Preeti Sharma were present to grace the occasion.
