Dharamshala (Kangra) District Police on campaign to eradicate drug menace
Dharamshala, September 8, 2018: Dharamshala (Kangra) Police is continuing with the objective to eradicate drug menace in District Kangra. The police spokesperson informed this correspondent that a special campaign was launched in this district on September 7 to check all shops, khokhas situated near all educational institutions of this district to identify persons involved in drugs trafficking so as to save our youth from the bad effects of drugs. He added that during checking, District Police has conducted 39 challan under head COTPA and fine worth Rs. 3850 was realised whereas one challan under the Polythene Act has also been done during the campaign. In addition to above, 1 case under the Excise Act has also been detected in which 3700 ML countrymade liquor has been recovered from a shop. District Police is dedicated to put all out efforts to eradicate drug menace and it is an appeal from the society to share information of drug peddlers as well as other miscreants with us without any fear enabling us to achieve desired goal. Santosh Patial, SP, Kangra added, “Today, staff of District Narcotic Cell and Police Station, Shahpur has succeeded to recover 790 grams Charas from the possession of Raj Kumar (38) resident of VPO Daikwan Nurpur. Charas was kept by Raj Kumar in a pick van bearing registration (No.HP38-B-4151). A case under the NDPS Act has been registered and accused arrested.”
