Chandigarh, December 17, 2015: The Department of Indian Theatre, Panjab University (PU), today organised a Theatre-Talk on the topic "Theatre as Career: Problems and Possibilities".
Chairman Sangeet Natak Academy and senior theatre activist in Mr. Kamal Arora, Director Tagore Theatre Society Mr. Kuldeep Sharma and National Award Winner Cine Director for film 'Nabar' and an alumnus of the department Mr. Rajiv Sharma participated in the talk as the panellists.
Many tri-city based theatre activists and alumnus of the department participated in the talk-show and expressed their views.
The talk was aimed to train the department students and its recent pass-out for the challenges which they face after completing their master's degree in Theatre Art. All three masters shared their struggle and success stories and brought all the problems and possibilities of theatre-art as career.
Mr. Kamal Arora insisted on the learning, serving and earning process, while Mr. Kuldeep Sharma focused on the challenges that entire theatre of the north region is facing. Mr.Rajiv Sharma tried to convince students about the various dimensions of theatre.
Secondly, for the survival they shall have either to look on the alternative earning methods or to reach village level theatre. In her concluding remarks, Prof Pushpendra Syal motivated the students to understand themselves as 'chosen among the millions'.
This talk show was organized under the direction of the Chairperson of the Department Dr. Navdeep Kaur. On this occasion, Dr. Navdeep Kaur also announced the launching of 'Alumni Association of the Department and forms were filled by many alumnus of the department present there. PU Director Youth Welfare Dr. Nirmal Jaura and Prof. Mahendra Kumar were also present at the occasion. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
