Department of Biochemistry, PU welcomes group of 18 PG students and 1 teacher from Yuvaraja's College, Mysore
Chandigarh, February 20, 2019: Department of Biochemistry, Panjab University, Chandigarh welcomed a group of 18 postgraduate students and one teacher from Yuvaraja's College, Mysore on an educational tour which is a part of the academic service activity. The visit started with an interaction with the Chairperson of the department. They were briefed about the faculty members and their specializations, complete facilities such as practical halls, instrumentation labs, various students activities, and flexible curriculum in form of Choice Based Credit System. The students were shown all these facilities and the working of various high-end equipment, specialised laboratories for future studies. The students discussed the possibilities of research in the department. They also took this occasion to investigate a possibility of studying and get acquainted with the academic environment at the University. The teacher, Mr. Shashanka K. Prasad said that the purpose of visiting the Department was to give the students knowledge about studying in the Panjab University as well as to expose the students to different learning atmosphere. The trip was a great success proving to be highly educational, not only in the field of "Biochemistry, but in understanding the culture of Punjab and students in this area!" Prof. Archana Bhatnagar, Chairperson, Department of Biochemistry felt that experiences such as these are invaluable for enhancing a students' understanding of the world, which greatly improves networking and personal development. Later, the students met the Vice Chancellor of Panjab University, Prof. Raj Kumar, who encouraged them to strike the right balance between academic activity and cultural opportunities at the Panjab University.
