Delhi Metro again shuts one station

New Delhi, June 27 (IANS) Delhi Metro Friday shut down its Race Course station for indefinite time due to the ongoing protest by UPSC aspirants against changes made in the pattern of the civil services examination.

The Metro station was shut down at around 5 p.m. Friday.

"As nearly 1,200 protesters are still there, we advised Delhi Metro to close Race Course Metro stations from 5 p.m. for an indefinite time," Deputy Commissioner of Police S.B.S. Tyagi told IANS.

Earlier in the day, Metro commuters faced a tough time when four stations - Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Race Course and Udyog Bhavan - were shut down for nearly two hours from 11.18 a.m. till 1.12 p.m. due to the protest.

The civil service aspirants marched from Civil Lines area in north Delhi around 10.30 a.m. to Rajghat protesting against changes made by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and demanded that the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) pattern in the examination be scrapped.

The CSAT is a compulsory part of the civil services examination that acts as a screening test before the civil services main examination.
