DEALERS REGISTERED UNDER PUNJAB VAT ACT TO BE BROUGHT UNDER GST BY DECEMBER 31: DETC

Ludhiana, December 19, 2016: Mr JK Jain, Deputy Excise & Taxation Commissioner, Ludhiana division, has urged the dealers registered under Punjab VAT Act to collect their provisional IDs and passwords from offices of their respective ETO's by December 21, 2016. Mr Jain stated that as per the instructions issued by the Government of Punjab, all dealers who are registered under PVAT ACT are required to migrate to GST before December 31, 2016. For this purpose provisional password and ID is being provided totally free of cost to all dealers by using which they can login into GSTNL PORTAL where they can convert their PVAT No into provisional GST number by filling in the Performa available online.
Mr Jain said that these IDs and passwords are being provided to the dealers at present and would continue till December 21, 2016. He stated that all concerned are requested to follow the schedule of alphabets and bring the requisite document as desired by the GST council. The documents required are photocopy of PAN Card self attested, prescribed performa duly filled, signed and stamped by the dealer, authority letter in case of authorisation along with copy of special/General power of attorney and a power of attorney and authority letter in case of Advocate and Chartered Accountant.
The DETC stated that on the last two days, i.e. December 20 & 21, 2016, dealers whose name starts with the following alphabets would be given provisional IDs and passwords. On December 20, dealers whose names start with alphabets R, S, T and U and on December 21, dealers whose names start with alphabets V, W, X, Y and Z would be given provisional IDs and passwords. From December 16 onwards, the department is distributing provisional IDs and passwords are being provided to the dealers and several dealers have already collected them.
