DC Sachin Gupta directs to ensure All Basic Facilities in Mandis Ahead of Procurement Season.

Rohtak, February 17, 2026: With a view to ensuring smooth, timely, and farmer-friendly procurement operations during the upcoming procurement season, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta directed all concerned departments and procurement agencies to ensure the availability of adequate basic facilities in all mandis and procurement centres across the district.

Chairing a coordination meeting of officers from Market Committees, Food & Civil Supplies Department, and procurement agencies at the local camp office, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised that advance planning, inter-departmental coordination, and continuous on-ground monitoring are essential to prevent congestion, delays, and inconvenience to farmers during the mustard and wheat procurement season.

He directed that no procurement centre or sub-centre should face space constraints during peak arrivals. Market Committees were instructed to work in close coordination with the District Development and Panchayat Officer to identify, prepare, and operationalise additional sub-centres in advance, wherever required.

Key Directions and Monitoring Mechanism as follows:
• Adequate space at all mandis and sub-centres to ensure orderly auction, lifting, and movement of produce.
• Pre-season physical inspection of all procurement centres and sub-centres, with identification of usable areas and removal of encroachments, if any.
• Infrastructure readiness, including patchwork on damaged mandi roads, installation of paver blocks or flooring at sub-centres, proper drainage, cleanliness, and lighting.
• Advance assessment and uninterrupted availability of bardana, with buffer stock at all centres to meet sudden spikes in arrivals.
• Sufficient and scientific storage arrangements for wheat, ensuring that procured grain is not stored in the open under any circumstances.
• Optimal utilisation of existing warehouses, with exploration of timely market sale of previously stored wheat to create additional storage capacity.
• Daily field visits and reporting by Market Committee Secretaries and procurement agency officials during the procurement season.
• Immediate on-site resolution of issues, instead of deferring matters, to ensure uninterrupted procurement.
• Regular review at the district level, with accountability fixed for any avoidable lapse affecting farmers.

The Deputy Commissioner clearly stated that procurement preparedness will be reviewed on a regular basis, and any shortcomings noticed during inspections will be addressed without delay. Officers were instructed to adopt a solution-oriented and farmer-centric approach, ensuring that farmers do not suffer due to administrative or logistical gaps.
Senior officers from the Food Corporation of India, HAFED, Haryana State Warehousing Corporation, Market Committees of Rohtak and Meham, Food & Civil Supplies Department, and the HSAMB were present in the meeting.

Reiterating the district administration’s commitment to efficient procurement, transparency, and farmer welfare, the Deputy Commissioner said that the objective is not only procurement of crops, but also ensuring dignity, convenience, and confidence of farmers throughout the process.
