Law and order has collapsed in the state, the Haryana Government is a complete failure: Former CM Hooda

Rohtak, February 17, 2026: Former Haryana Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda, called the BJP government in Haryana a complete failure. He said that law and order in the state has completely collapsed, and everyone feels insecure.

While talking to journalists at his residence ‘Maturam Bhawan’ at D-Park, former CM Hooda said that only those are safe, who no one wants to kill. He said these are not just allegations made by the Opposition; Haryana is the most unsafe state in the country even according to reports by the central government.

Hooda said that he would introduce a special resolution on law and order in the upcoming Assembly session, raising the issue vociferously, and demanding answers from the government. He clarified that cases of organized crime are continuously emerging in the state. “More than 80-90 gangs are active in the state. The gangs commit crimes and then claim responsibility. It is imperative to eradicate these gangs,” he said.

Referring to the case of the Guhla Cheeka MLA Devender Hans, he said the government has no control over law and order. “When an MLA pointed out the government's failures by showing a rattle to a govt. officer, an FIR was filed against him. Malicious action against MLAs will not be tolerated,” he said.

Hooda said that the murder case in Rohtak, which took place last evening near the IG's office, demonstrates the government's failure. “Today, money is being extorted from businessmen to doctors in the state. Industries are fleeing, and investment is declining. Improving law and order and instilling public confidence are essential for progress. However, under BJP rule, there is an atmosphere of fear among the people because the government is weak,” he said.

“The situation was the same before 2005. Crime was operated from jails, but the Congress government controlled it and made Haryana crime-free,” he added.

Hooda also termed the trade deal with the United States of America as anti-farmer. He said that if animal feed is imported from America and our animals are fed from there, our farmers will be ruined. “In any case, the United States, which has imposed an 18% tariff on India, has imposed a zero tariff on Bangladesh. This deal will have a significant impact on cotton farmers, among other farmers,” he said.

The Leader of the Opposition said that farmers are constantly being discriminated against under this government. “The weight of a fertilizer bag has now been reduced from 50 to 40 kgs, while the rate remains the same. The government’s claim of providing MSP for 24 crops is also false; Haryana doesn't grow that many crops. More than Rs. 2000 crore in profits were generated from the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna, but claims aren't received, and people are abandoning insurance. Not even 10% compensation has been provided yet,” he pointed out.

Regarding the pension cuts to the elderly, Hooda said that the government is now claiming to restore 70,000 pensions. “If they hadn't been cut, why are they being restored? Along with pensions, ration cards issued before the elections are now being cancelled, which in itself constitutes vote theft. In Ambala alone; 54,000 ration cards were cancelled,” he said.

MLAs Bharat Bhushan Batra and Shakuntala Khatak, former ministers Subhash Batra & Anand Singh Dangi along with others were present on the occasion.
