DC EXHORTS PEOPLE TO CAST VOTE IN HUGE NUMBER ON MAY 19
DISTRICT LEVEL YOUTH FAIR ORGANIZED UNDER SVEEP PROGRAM IN DASS AND BROWN SCHOOL QUIZ, RANGOLI, POSTER MAKING, MUSIC AND POETRY COMPETITIONS BASED ON VOTING HELD Ferozepur, May 3, 2019: The deputy commissioner-cum-district election officer Mr Chander Gaind on Friday exhorted the people to exercise their franchise in huge number in this general elections on May 19 and make Ferozepur a leading district in the state in voting percentage. Addressing the gathering during district youth level fair in Dass and Brown School, he asked the people to turn out in the large number to cast their votes and participate in the democratic process. He said that voting is not only right but a huge responsibility which needed to be discharged with utmost dedication. He asked the people to exercise their franchise free and fairly. Mr Gaind disclosed that the district administration has made elaborate arrangements for PWD voters including wheelchairs, ramps and etc. He said that the volunteers have been deployed to assist them in the voting process. The event was organized under the supervision of SVEEP coordinator Dr Satinder Singh in which the winners of block and sub-division level competitions took part. Quiz, rangoli, poetry, poster making, declamation and other contests were held. The deputy commissioner honoured the first three winners. A street play based on the use of money power and liquor in the elections was presented by teacher Mr Gurpreet Singh and his team. Later, Mr Gaind administrated the oath to the teachers and school staff for the voting. SVEEP coordinator Dr Satinder Singh told that more than 5000 students of 80 educational institutions participated in these competitions. Mr Anirudh Gupta, the CEO of Dass and Brown School welcomed the deputy commissioner Mr Chander Gaind and others. On the occasion, ADC Mr Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu, Assistant Commissioner Mr Ranjit Singh, Principal Ms Preeti Verma, Mr Birpartap Singh Gill, Mr Lakhwinder Singh, State Awardee Mr Ravi Inder Singh, Mr Sarbjeet Singh Bedi from Nehru Yuva Kendra and others were present.
