DAY 5: PAU YOUTH FEST PRESENTS GLORIOUS PAST OF PUNJAB

Ludhiana, November 7, 2016: The fifth day of Inter-College Youth Festival 2016-17 at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) presented the glorious past of Punjab through competitions in new events includingeenumaking,mitti de khidauney,peedimaking,chhikumaking andnaalamaking. The creative aptitude of the young minds in these events spoke of their attachment with their roots. Earlier, competitions in photography, quiz and shabad (solo and group) were also held in which students clicked eye-catching photographs, displayed their vocal skills and their general knowledge was tested.

The Chief Guest, Dr Neelam Grewal, Dean, Postgraduate Studies, PAU, said the introduction of new events will go a long way in reviving the traditional heritage of Punjab. It is important to apprise the youth of the rich legacy of the state, she observed, while adding that youth fests provide the best platform for the same. She acknowledged the active participation of the students in these events.

The Chief Guest of the evening session, Dr R.S. Sidhu, Director of Extension Education, PAU, exhorted the students to work hard and be all rounder to compete in the global era. “Maintain balance between academics and co-curricular activities,” he said, while urging the students to make a mark in the national and international arenas.

Earlier, the Estate Officer of PAU, Dr V.S. Hans, who presided over the previous day events, applauded the zeal and zest of the students for participation in the youth fest.
