DAVIET, THE WINNERS OF COVETED IKG PTU INTER ZONAL YOUTH FESTIVAL 2016

Jalandhar, November 12, 2016: DAVIET, won the Championship in IKG PTU INTER Zonal Youth Festival which was organised from 10th, 11th, 12th November, 2016 at GNDEC Ludhiana. Team DAVIET won the individual trophies in Fine Arts, Dance and Music and also the overall trophy to emerge victorious. The win marked the establishment of DAVIET as a techno cultural hub of the Institutions affiliated to IKGPTU Jalandhar. The themes of the zonal youth festival were “Digital India”, “ Swatch Bharat” and it was dedicated to 125TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF BABA SAHIB DR. BHIM RAO AMBEDKAR. DAVIET overcame stiff competition from other teams and came out victorious. Out of the total 32 events Team DAVIET had the gold in 10, silver in 7 and bronze in 5.
On day One , the main highlights were the events of Mimicry, Quiz, Group Song Indian, On the Spot Painting, Collage Making, On the Spot Photography, in all of which DAVIET won gold medals. On Day two the main attractions were that of Skit, Classical Vocal Solo and Clay Modeling. Team DAVIET performed exceedingly well and won the gold in these events as well. On the final day the competition was intense in the event of Gidha. With the win of girls from DAVIET, the DAVIET contingent was declared the overall winner. With their spirited performance the young girls of the Gidha team set the stage on fire. Team DAVIET during the Prize Distribution ceremony rejoiced and celebrated their win amidst Traditional Punjabi Boliya by the Gidha Team and loud cheering which was the expression of the hard work that the budding DAVIETians had put through the course of the semester to perform well. In Gidha Navneet Nagpal from DAVIET was declared the Best Dancer while in Play Ashwin Bahri was declared the Best Actor
Dr. Amanpreet Singh, Registrar IKG PTU Jalandhar was the Chief Guest during the Valedictory Function. He congratulated team DAVIET for winning the Inter zonal Youth Festival yet again. He shared with all present that PTU is committed to provide the students a platform to show case their talent in a variety of events. He elaborated the need of such Youth Festivals and shared that they go a long way in shaping the over all personality of the students. Dr. M.S Saini , Principal GNDEC Ludhiana, also congratulated the winners. He highlighted the importance of Digital India to increase transparency in the administrative system of India and also shared that through such initiatives the services sector will reach majority of the population. He also urged upon everyone to contribute their bit in the Swatch Bharat Campaign to make India litter free. Dr. Rajpal Singh, observer, of the Inter Zonal Youth Festival read out his report and highlighted how students should give their best to outperform each other and yet learn to appreciate the others performance.
Dr. Manoj Kumar, Principal DAVIET, congratulated all the winners and participants from the DAVIET contingent. He said that with this grand victory DAVIET has established its superiority in the cultural arena over other professional colleges affiliated to IKG PTU Jalandhar. He also appreciated the hard work put in by all the event incharges and the trainers who made it possible for the students to perform so well. He appreciated the dedication of Ms. Megha Munjal, Cultural Officer and Mr. Dawinder Priyadarshi for their constant support and guidance to students.
