Chandigarh, March 17, 2016: Hyderabad Management Association (HMA) has announced the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award 2015 for Mr. BVR Mohan Reddy—Founder and Executive Chairman of Cyient, and Chairman of NASSCOM. The award will be presented at the 43rdHMA Annual Awards this evening in a ceremony at the Taj Deccan, Hyderabad. The Honorable Minister of Information Technology, Municipal Administration, and Panchayat Raj—KT Rama Rao—will be the chief guest on this occasion.

The HMA Lifetime Achievement Award honors Mohan Reddy’s numerous accomplishments over the last four decades and also coincides with the 25th anniversary of Cyient (formerly Infotech Enterprises), the engineering services company he founded in 1991. His contribution spans a variety of initiatives addressing challenges in industry, communities, entrepreneurship, education, skills, and employment.

BVR Mohan Reddy—an entrepreneur, thought leader and industry leader—has contributed immensely to shape the IT-BPM industry in India and has pioneered engineering design outsourcing industry from India. An alumnus of University of Michigan and IIT-Kanpur, he founded Cyient 25 years ago with four employees and a strong entrepreneurial spirit to make it a multinational giant clocking revenues of around INR 3,000 crores (US$450 million) and a market capitalization of around INR 5000 crores (US$ 760 million). Headquartered in Hyderabad, Cyient is a truly multinational company with operations in more than 38 global locations, and has been an ambassador of brand Hyderabad across the world. Contributing cumulative exports in excess of US$2 billion to global Fortune 100 customers like Airbus, Boeing, Pratt & Whitney, Philips, Caterpillar, etc., Cyient and its subsidiary companies have created direct employment opportunities for more than 13,000 engineering professionals.

Acknowledging Mohan’s prowess in industry matters and knowledge of business challenges, NASSCOM elected him as its Chairman to represent the industry voice to government, academia, and international forums. He provides strategic direction and advocates progressive policy guidelines for the growth of national Information Technology (IT) and IT-enabled products and services industry. During his tenure, Mohan has been strongly advocating bigger representation of small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs) within NASSCOM, and pushing policy reforms to create a conducive environment for the growth of startups in India. His passion for change and growth is well visible in the various roles that he has held with key organizations like the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), where he served as the Chairman, Southern Region. He has led several initiatives benefitting industry and is associated with councils of various academic and industry forums: Chairman, CII, AP Council (2002-03); President, ELIAP (1987); and Founding Member and President of HYSEA for three consecutive terms (1996-98).

BVR Mohan Reddy is passionate about education and currently serves as Chairman, Board of Governors at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad; Board Member of NIIT University, Neemrana; Executive Council Member of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Kakinada; and advisor for global universities like Deakin University, Australia and UNITEN, Malaysia.
Realizing that entrepreneurship and startups are a big hope for a country like India, he pitched to his fellow industrialists in Hyderabad to form Hyderabad Angels, where he served as Chairman in past and is a board member now. He kept working on his vision of making Hyderabad a startup capital and the same endeavor pushed him to become the Founder and Director of T-Hub, the largest technologystartup incubator in India.

A firm believer of giving back to society, Mohan adopted 14 government schools throughthe ‘Adopt-a-School” program of the Cyient Foundation, benefitting nearly 10,000 children. As a brand ambassador of the Swachh Bharat program, for the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states, he has implemented the Swachh Telangana-Swachh Pathashala campaign in 54 government schools in Serlingampally Mandal, impacting nearly 20,000 students, and is also imparting digital literacy to community members within the National Digital Literacy Mission (NDLM) program.

BVR Mohan Reddy has been conferred with multiple awards, which also include the prestigious American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Leadership Award in 2011. In 2012, he received Corporate Excellence Award from the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC). He has been felicitated as a “Distinguished Scientist” by JNTU, Hyderabad at the AP Science Congress 2010, and a “Distinguished Alumnus”award by IIT, Kanpur in 2011.

Mohan has been an inspiration to young students and an outstanding scholar for many educational institutes. The same is reflected in an honorary Ph.D. degree that he received from the JNTU, Hyderabad; an honorary D.Sc. from the Andhra University, Vishakhapatnam; and Doctor of Science Honoris Causa from KL University, Vijayawada.
