Jalandhar, October 4, 2016: CT Institute of Architecture and Planning (CTIAP) under the patronage of CT Group of Institutions celebrated World Habitat Day at its Shahpur campus on Monday.
The event was inaugurated by Mr.Nalin Rai (District Development Manager, NBAD, Ludhiana) and Chairman, CT Group of Institutions, Campus Director, CT Group of Institutions, Er.G.P.S.Chadha (Chairman, The Institution of Valuers), Dr.R.P.Singh (Chairman, IOE(I)-LLC) & Ar.Jaswinderjit Singh (Chairman, Indian Institute of Architecture (IIA)) and members of the management and faculty.
Mr.Nalin Rai (District Development Manager, NBAD, Ludhiana) informed that this day remind us not only to clean the environment but also be aware about our future. This day took an important step in promoting the idea that everyone deserves a decent place to live. He divided Smart Cities into different aspects as what is actual meaning of smart cities, Need of smart cities, How to meet that target at global level. He said, “Now a day’s migration of people from rural to urban area is increasing because of better living standards with various facilities. Because of urbanization the need of people is increasing due to which various factors are to be adopted like to maintain the cost, Better Life Styles etc. The factors of the smart cities are better economic conditions, development, environment, living standards; etc.”
The dignitaries showcased their concerned over the access to adequate housing is a global challenge growing fast with urbanization. Around one quarter of the world’s urban population continues to live in slums and informal settlements. The students of Architecture also displayed their artistic skills. An exhibition was also organized displaying the paintings and art work of the students.
Chairman, CT Group of Institutions said, "On this World Habitat Day, CT Group urge national and local governments, city planners and communities everywhere to keep “Housing at the Centre”. Guaranteeing dignity and opportunity for all depends on people having access to affordable and adequate housing. I look forward to a successful Habitation that will advance our sustainable development for the benefit of all humankind."
