Congress workers under the leadership of Inderjit Singh Zira, Chairman, Mazdoor and Kisan Cell, blocked the National Highway-15 at Harike Headwork’s against the ruling alliance of SAD-BJP following which a lot of problems were to be faced by commuters.

Ferozepur, October 12, 2014: To woo the farmers of the region, keeping in mind the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections, hundreds of Congress workers under the leadership of Inderjit Singh Zira, Chairman, Mazdoor and Kisan Cell, blocked the National Highway-15 at Harike Headwork’s against the ruling alliance of SAD-BJP.  The party workers blocked the bridge for more than four hours which brought a lot of problems for the commuters.
When the administration requested Inderjit Singh Zira to remove the blockade, he insisted to had a word with DPS Kharbanda, Deputy Commissioner, Ferozepur. Even after the Deputy Commissioner sent, Anjuman Bhaskar, District Food & Supply Officer for negotiation, he did not agree.  Besides, the Food and Supply Officer was forced to pay a visit to grain market of Makhu and to suspend a food inspector who was allegedly involved in corruption. To persuade the Congress workers, Bhaskar went to the grain market along with some supporters of Inderjit Singh Zira and assured all the Congress workers that strict action shall be taken but when she requested to Inderjit Singh Zira to lift the blockade, he again insisted to have a word with the Deputy Commissioner. After repeated assurance from Anjuman Bhaskar, the Congress workers lifted the blockade.
While interacting with the media persons, Inderjit Singh Zira said that the SAD-BJP alliance has unleashed a reign of corruption and terror in the state. The farmers are losing their lives, facing unbearable sorrows due to misleading policies of Akali Dal and BJP governance.  The agents and traders are looting the innocent farmers by not paying the right price of their hard work and farmers are committing suicide.
Zira also insisted that while procuring the paddy, the government should change the norms of moisture and should increase the moisture limit from 17% to 20% to provide some relief to the farmers.
