COMMISSIONER OF POLICE LUDHIANA ISSUES VARIOUS BAN ORDERS

Ludhiana, September 11, 2018: Considering problems being faced by commuters and obstructions in performing government duty due to various protests and rallies in public places, a designated site for holding any kind of demonstration/dharnas has been earmarked. Now, any kind of protest can be held in Sector-39 A, near Vardhman Mill, Ludhiana.

Exercising the powers vested under Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, Commissioner of Police Ludhiana Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill has imposed a complete ban on holding demonstrations other than designated place. The orders would remain in force for two months.

Exercising the powers vested under Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, the Commissioner of Police has imposed a ban on the use of loudspeakers by religious places from 10 pm to 6 am in the jurisdiction of police commissionerate Ludhiana. The permission should be taken from the concerned authority to hold loudspeakers during this time, he said. He said that the orders would be in force for next two months.

Similarly, the Commissioner of Police Ludhiana has also banned the movement of heavy vehicles (including three wheelers, four wheelers or those having more than four wheels) that are used for ferrying passengers, which is illegal and is a violation of the Motor Vehicle Act. He said that it can also lead to dangerous situations where the human life can be put into danger and sometimes even accidents take place. Exercising the powers vested under Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, the Commissioner of Police has imposed a ban on the use of heavy vehicles for ferrying passengers. These orders would be in force for next two months.

In another order, the Commissioner of Police has directed the city residents to inform their nearest Police Post regarding the details including photographs of their tenants in houses, or maids, drivers, conductors, security guards, gardener, or any person hired etc that are employed in all houses, schools, colleges, business establishments, private organisations, industrial houses etc with immediate effect. He said that it has come to his notice that some such persons commit crime and that is why, people should inform the police about them. These orders would be in force for next two months.

The Commissioner of Police has stated that it has come to his notice that some vehicles having sand do not cover it properly, due to which the sand and water falls on the road when the vehicle is moving. He said due to this, accidents take place sometimes. Exercising the powers vested under Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, the Commissioner of Police has imposed a ban on plying of vehicles carrying sand if uncovered and has directed the vehicle owners to ensure that the vehicles are properly covered. These orders would be in force for next two months. Exercising the powers vested under Section 144, Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, the Commissioner of Police Ludhiana has also banned the sale of helmets without ISI mark. These orders would be in force for next two months.

The Commissioner of Police has also directed that CCTV camera should be installed in all LPG agencies, Marriage Palaces, Shopping Malls, Money Exchange Offices etc within 30 days. He said that it has been observed that some bad elements target these places and snatch cash, gold, other valuables etc. These orders would remain in force in all areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Commissionerate Ludhiana.

While keeping in mind the safety of city residents, the entry of heavy commercial vehicles within the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana limits would remain banned from 8 am to 10:30 pm and of medium and light motor vehicles (commercial) from 12 noon to 5 pm. These orders would be in force for next two months.

Dr Sukhchain Singh Gill, Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana has ordered that keeping in mind the safety of city residents, the old vehicles that have been resold, their registration should be done in the name of new owner within 30 days. These orders would be in force for next two months.

The Commissioner of Police has banned the sale, purchase, storage and use of Chinese Kite strings (made of plastic) in all areas under jurisdiction of Ludhiana Police Commissionerate. He said as Chinese kite strings are made up of plastic and are coated with glass particles, which lead to dangerous accidents.
