CICU steps forward for development of Focal Point Area
Ludhiana, February 21, 2019: A meeting was called for formation of Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for maintenance of Infrastructure of the Focal Point Area with DIC, PSIEC senior officials. Sh. Upkar Singh Ahuja, President, CICU said that CICU is working to develop Focal point to match world-class infrastructure with green belts, drainage cleaning, dumping area, roads and public convenience etc. He also said that infrastructure in focal point is in very bad condition. Many times govt. officials have assured about focal point development, but nothing has been done yet. This is the good step by the State Govt. to form SPV for each phase in focal point area. Sh. Mahesh Khanna, General Manager, DIC said that SPV for each phase should be formed for the development of the industry in focal point area. It is the only way as directed by the State Govt. Each SPV will contain MCL, PSIEC, DIC officials and Industrialists. Executive body in SPV will work on ground level with the support of State Govt. and other officials. He also said that SPV will meets its financial supports from the property taxes, water, sewerage taxes and other MCL taxes. Before handing over the charge of Focal point area to SPV, the State Govt. will fully develop the area by its own expenditure and afterwards SPV will look after the maintenance. Sh. Ram Lubhaya, Vice President, CICU said that as per a survey, Rs. 80 cr. is required only to develop the roads of the area, in context to this only 4 cr. yearly is collected from property tax in focal point area. He also said that the Govt. should support financially through other means such as cut in GST rates. These funds will be used for the development and betterment of the Focal Point area. The officials from PSIEC Mr. Vicky, J.E and Mr. Amanpreet Singh were also present. The meeting was attended by more than 50 prominent industrialist namely S/Sh. Phuman Singh, Sanjay Dhiman, Ishwar Singh, O.P Bassi, Madan Lal Jindal, Rajan Gupta, K.R Vij, Rajiv Jain, Sudharshan Gosian, Yashpal Gosian, Roshan Lal, Ashok Kumar, G.S Kahlon, Naresh bansal, Sanjay Dhiman, Taranpreet Singh.
