Ludhiana, February 26, 2016: Today the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT) Mr.D.B.Goel & Mr.B.B.Nanawati, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax & other highups of Income Tax Department held a meeting with Ashok Kumar Juneja, President & B.R.Kaushal, Secretary General and office bearers & Executive members of Punjab Tax Practitioners Association (PTPA) and deliberated on the suggestions given by said association for smooth working, improvements in the working system of said department & to enhance the cordiality between Bar & Bench which are the two arms of same machinery.
Apart from said high ups the other top ranking officials Sh. R.S. Parmar and S. Arvinder Singh Additional Commissioners, ABS Shalini Deputy commissioner, Amanpreet Kaur Walia, Gagan Kundra, Toufel Tahir and Kamaldeep Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax, Harvinder kaur & Vikas Sood, ITOs and other officials also presented their view point .The Chief Commissioner of Income Tax sought the co-operation of the Bar with regards to timely deposit, correct payment of Advance Tax and early finalization of Assessment cases by avoiding unnecessary delay by seeking adjournment & other non-logical reasons. They also assured PTPA that all the demands /problems highlighted by the association would be looked into and shall be sorted out earliest possible.
Presidents & secretaries of various Tax Bar Associations of Punjab state who are office bearers & executive members of PTPA highlighted the problems regarding rectification, refund, revalidation and appeal effect. They further highlighted that the cases selected in CASS for scrutiny are being repeated continuously for four to five. It demanded that where no substantial addition has been made in any of the years such cases should not be fixed again and again.
Sh. Ajay Choudhary and Sh. K.K. Singla Vice Presidents (PTPA) demanded that refund should not be withheld due to mismatch of TDS. CPC is still adjusting arrears against refund inspite of clear instructions from the CBDT.
Sh. Rupinder Kansal , General Secretary (PTPA) & Sh. Tarlok Bhalla Secretary (PTPA) who is also President, District Tax Consultant Association (DTCA), Ludhiana demanded that the action plan issued by the CBDT should be followed in letter and spirit.
Sh. Rajesh Malhotra and Sh. Paramjit Singh , Office Bearers of Tax Bars Patiala and Jalandhar demanded that receipt of intimation u/s 143(1) should be made in the primary contact of the assesee instead of the secondary contact of the assesee.
Sh. Sandeep Kher of Hoshiarpur and Sh. Gaurav Aggarwaland H.S. Ghai from Khanna demanded that all rectification related cases except in which the CPC itself allows relief should be transfer to Jurisdictional AO so that speaking orders may be passed after considering the explanation/evidence submitted by the assesee.
Mr. Juneja & Kaushal presented vote of thanks and desired that such type of meetings of Bar & Bench be held periodically for better understanding, cordiality , brotherhood and for increase in revenue & number of taxpayers.
