New Delhi, August 8, 2014: The Central Bureau Investigation has registered 6 cases against certain then officials of Delhi Jal Board of the rank of then Junior Engineers to Executive Engineers and two Proprietors /Owner of Delhi based private firms & and unknown others.  These cases were registered as a consequence of the findings in a Preliminary Enquiry based on a complaint received by CBI. 

This was stated by the spokesperson of the CBI.He said that it has been alleged that during the period 2011-12, 78 Work Orders were issued by the Delhi Jal Board to the two said private companies. The accused officials of the Delhi Jal Board allegedly conspired with the proprietors of these two private Companies and fraudulently flouted the norms/ rules/ procedure  of DJB and without actual supply of material & without doing any renovation work, made false entries in the relevant registers.

They also verified the bills submitted by these dealers without obtaining purchase vouchers and allegedly released payment to the said dealers.  These officials also overlooked the exorbitant rates charged by the firms.  An alleged loss of  Rs.3.63 crores(approx.) was caused to the Govt. Exchequer

Searches were conducted at 19 locations in Delhi and one at Aligarh at the premises related to the accused public servants and the private persons.

Further investigation is continuing.
