A Speaker addressing an interactive seminar on “How to Make a Career in IT” for the BCA and MCA students at Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management (GGNIMT), Ludhiana on Friday.

Ludhiana, October 16, 2015: Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management (GGNIMT), Civil Lines organized an interactive seminar on “How to Make a Career in IT” for the BCA and MCA students here today. Mr.Praveen Bhalla, Founder & CEO, Sakham Academy , Mohali was the resource person for the day.
Principal Dr.P.S Khattra welcomed the guest  and said that such career counseling sessions were needed to guide the students with their career paths.
Mr. Bhalla outlined the various fields in the Information Technology sector that required students with  BCA/MCA qualifications. He highlighted the scope and basic skill requirements for jobs in the field of Software Development, Production Support, Consultancy, Testing, Database Management, Business Analysis and Technical Support. Talking about the recent trends, he  elaborated that the field of software development these  also days included development of mobile apps, and websites along with  application development & maintenance.
He motivated the budding IT professionals to passionately work on  Aptitude skills, Soft skills and Technical Skills. He exhorted that  these are the most important skills  that the companies look for in a candidate while interviewing.
Mr. Bhalla also guided the students on how to go about preparing for an interview. He advised them to indulge in self assessment to identify their gaps and later filling them with the required skills set. He inspired the students to use online resources for self-training and grooming.
The session concluded with the question-answer session. The students asked a lot of questions to plan their career paths.
Prof. Satinderjit Singh, Head  , Computer Applications Department, thanked the guest for sharing valuable information with the students and encouraged the budding professionals to believe in themselves and build an ambition to do well in life.
