Bayern win, Leverkusen share points with Dortmund in Bundesliga

Berlin, April 27 (IANS) Bayern Munich came from behind to crush Werder Bremen 5-2 at home while Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund shared the spoils following a 2-2 draw in the 32nd round of Bundesliga.

Bremen grabbed the lead twice but Bayern gained momentum in the second half to wrap up three points courtesy of Claudio Pizzaro's brace Saturday, reports Xinhua.

Bremen started brightly as they shocked the German giants with the opener in the 10th minute through defender Theodor Gebre Selassie.

The Bavarians held possession for most of the time but lacked any real penetration against Bremen's well-positioned defence. However, 10 minutes later Franck Ribery utilised a through ball to restore parity with a nutmeg from seven metres.

The visitors grabbed the lead for the second time when Aaron Hunt shrugged off Bayern defender Jerome Boateng to strike into the bottom right corner in the 36th minute.

After the restart, Bremen were unable to contain Bayern as veteran striker Claudio Pizzaro sealed his brace within four minutes to make it 3-2, before Bastian Schweinsteiger headed home for a 4-2 lead four minutes later.

The Bavarians were not done and substitute Arjen Robben rounded off the 5-2 win with his goal in the 74th minute.

Second placed Dortmund came back twice against Leverkusen to snatch a point away in a fast paced encounter, with four goals in one half.

Leverkusen are in danger of losing their UEFA Champions League playoff berth as they sit in fourth place and are equal on points with fifth-placed Wolfsburg. Dortmund remain in second place, seven points clear of third-placed Schalke.

Elsewhere, relegation threatened Nuremberg suffered their ninth defeat in 10 games as they lost 0-2 to Mainz.

Berlin put an end to their winless run of nine matches as they secured a 2-0 win over bottom side Braunschweig.
