Bayern Munich sign Bernat

Munich, July 8 (IANS/EFE) Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have signed 21-year-old Spain international Juan Bernat from FC Valencia.

The defender underwent a medical here Monday and subsequently signed a five-year contract keeping him at Germany's most successful club until June 30, 2019, for an undisclosed fee. Bernat will join compatriots Javi Martínez and Thiago Alcântara in the Bavarian club, reports Efe.

"We're very pleased about reaching a good and quick solution both with player and FC Valencia," said FC Bayern Munich AG deputy chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen.

FC Bayern Munich board director for sport Matthias Sammer said: "Juan Bernat is an exceptional young player who we've been watching for a long time. He is quick, a good tackler and has an incredible nose for goal."
