Bathinda to host national Mayors’ conference

Chandigarh, September 14, 2012: The Municipal Corporation, Bathinda would host national level Mayors’ Conference on September 15, 2012.

Disclosing this, an official spokesman of Local Bodies Department said that in this 105^th Indian Council of Mayors’ Conference, all the mayors in the country would participate. He said that Chief Minister, Parkash Singh Badal would inaugurate this conference, whereas Minister for Local Bodies, Chunni Lal Bhagat would grace the occasion as Guest of Honor. He said that Bhagat would also preside over the conference.

The spokesman further said that apart from the Mayor of Bathinda Municipal Corporation, Mayors of Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Patiala would also participate in this conference. He said that in this conference, discussions would held on the issues like; the problems created by unplanned expansions of urban sprawl. The dais would also make efforts to devise methodology to provide better infrastructure and daily basic amenities to the citizens.

He said that the gathering would also share their experiences in making metropolitan a better living place besides ensuring world class sanitation in order to maintain better health and hygiene to the citizens.
