MOHALI, JANUARY 16, 2017: Balbir Sidhu the Congress candidate from Mohali will file his nomination papers tomorrow. Before filing the papers, Sidhu will address party leaders and workers at Dussehra ground in Phase 8 here in the morning.
Sidhu is eyeing his second straight victory from Mohali assembly seat. In last election in 2012 , he had defeated prominent former Union Minister and Akali-BJP stalwart, Balwant Singh Ramoowalia with a healthy margin of 17000 votes.
This time too , he is not only confident to win but win with the more margin.
Sidhu joined Youth Congress in 1993. He had worked as joint secretary, vice president and senior vice president of Punjab Pradesh Youth Congress Committee. Being worker of Indian Youth Congress, he contested assembly election during 1997 as a Congress candidate.
He had also remained PCC member during 1999 and later again member during 2006. He was appointed president of District Congress Committee, Mohali district in 2006.
He was elected MLA during 2007 election from Kharar constituency by defeating Late Akali leader Capt Kanwaljit Singh's son Jasjeet Singh Bunny by 14000 votes.
