BADAL OKAYS: 11-member concept committee for finalisation of Sri Guru Ravidass Memorial at Khuralgarh

Chandigarh, January 11, 2013: In a bid to propagate the rich legacy of Sri Guru Ravidass, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today approved an eleven-member concept committee for the finalisation of the prestigious Sri Guru Ravidass Memorial to come up at village Khuralgarh near Garhshankar in Hoshiarpur district.

Presiding over a high level meeting here at Punjab Bhawan this morning, the Chief Minister gave his nod to the concept committee to be headed by Cultural Affairs Minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur besides Chief Parliamentary Secretary Irrigation SS Thandal, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Local Government Som Parkash, Sant Nirmal Dass Jaurewale, Sant Surinder Dass Kathar, Lekh Raj Parwana, Dharampal Singal, Prof. Jasbir Singh Sabar, HS Kaler and Siri Ram Arsh (all eminent scholars).  

RL Kalsia would be the convener of the committee. 

The Chief Minister also approved requisite funds for the conduct of the meetings of Sri Guru Ravidass Yadgar Foundation from time to time.  The meeting also deliberated upon the formation of executive committee to be headed by Cultural Affairs Minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur.  

The Chief Minister also gave approval to appoint Harminder Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur as Chief Executive Officer of the executive committee.  

Badal also asked the members to make concerted efforts to ensure the completion of this holy project within the time frame adding they must study the model and concept of Jang-e-Azaadi memorial coming up at Kartarpur near Jalandhar, to replicate the same for Sri Guru Ravidass Memorial in a planned and systematic manner.   

The Chief Minister also approved a site selection committee comprising CPS Sohan Singh Thandal, MLA Garhshankar Mohinder Singh Bhullewalrathan besides Deputy Commissioner and Additional Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur and SDM Garhshankar to arrange requisite land for the memorial.  

Badal was apprised in the meeting that only after getting the green signal from the above committee regarding 14 acre 4 kanal and 14 marla land selected for the site, the government would proceed further for necessary formalities under Section 4 & 6 of Land Acquisition Act.
