Ludhiana, August 18, 2018: Chief Agriculture Officer Ludhiana Dr Paramjit Singh Brar has informed that to check the problem of burning of paddy straw, the Agriculture Department has started the Central Sector Scheme on Promotion of Agricultural Mechanisation for In-Situ Management of Crop Residue in the state of Punjab. And for installing Super Straw Management System (Super SMS) attachment with Combine Harvester Machines and happy seeder, the department has sought applications from the farmers.

Dr Brar informed that the farmers can submit their applications in the offices of concerned Block Agriculture Officers or Chief Agriculture Officer by August 22, 2018. He urged the farmers to avail this scheme in large numbers as it is very beneficial to them.

He further informed 50% subsidy or whatever is fixed on the machinery/equipment will be provided to individual farmer for crop residue management. He said that the in-situ management of crop residue involves management of the residue in the field by sowing the next crop using equipment while the stubble is still standing and letting the straw mix in soil and work as manure.

He said that farmers can also submit applications regarding Paddy Straw Chopper Shredder, Multure, Reversible Mould Board Plough, Rotary Slasher and Shrub Master/cutter, and these applications would be cleared as per the funds received from the Government of India. He informed that along with the application to be submitted in a set performa, the farmers also need to submit their photographs, self-declaration stating that they would not burn the wheat/paddy straw, copy of their Aadhaar Card, copy of bank passbook, copy of ‘fard’ of land owned, combine registration copy for combine attachment etc.

The Chief Agriculture Officer informed that the applications can be submitted only for the machinery manufactured by companies approved by the department. He said that the details of these companies can be checked online at websites, www.agripb.gov.in and www.agrimachinery.nic.in.

Dr Hardev Singh, Agriculture Officer and Engineer Amanpreet Singh Ghai were also present on the occasion. He stated that the farmers who have already applied for this scheme, do not need to submit fresh applications. He said that for any other information, the farmers can contact the offices of Agriculture Department.
