Apeejay College of Fine Arts celebrates International Women's Day

Jalandhar, March 8, 2016: Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar celebrated the International Women's Day. A well known theatre group YUVAA (Young Upcoming Versatile Artists Association) successfully staged a play named Museum in the college auditorium. Museum is a tale to unravel the Psychology of women. Dr.Sunit, Head, Department of English welcomed the Theatre Group and said plays like Museum are helpful to sensitize students about the relevance of women in creating peaceful environment in a society.
Principal Dr.Sucharita appreciated the artists of the play who are alumnae of the College, Shaina Batta, Mandeep Kaur, Sarvpriya Singh and Jeevanjot Singh. She said this play has depicted the sufferings of females and it is a matter of proud that through the medium of such plays we can contribute in providing an equal status to women in our society.
Dr. Ankush Sharma (Director), Arusha, Shaina Batta, Mandeep Kaur, Deepika Bhardwaj, Sarvpreet, Vishesh Arora, Manpreet Singh, Chahat Aneja, Harjit Singh, Harish Chander, Jeevan Dogra, Jeevanjot Singh enacted on the stage in this play.
The play arose questions on the existence of women, their role in society, men's attitude towards them, the relevance of marriage as an Institution, Acid Attacks, Killings of Girl Child, Killing of Girls in the name of Ghotra System, Rape, Child Sex Abuse etc. It threw light on the status of female at the times of Ram and Sita, through the character of Draupadi and its impact on modern society. Times have changed but the impact of Patriarchal Society has deepened with it.
