Chandigarh, August 20, 2014: Punjab Government has decided to the fill all vacant posts in the destitute homes & rehabilitation centres in the state. Presiding over a meeting here today to review the progress report of these institutes Surjeet Kumar Jayani, Minister for Social Security, Women & Child Development, Punjab instructed senior officials of the department to immediately start this process.
Minister Jayani said that process to fill all vacant posts of teachers in the Blind School, Ludhiana should also be started on priority to provide better teaching facilities to blind children.
Minister asked the Director Social Security Gurkirat Kirpal Singh to take up the matter with the Deputy Commissioners about the vacant posts of these institutes which are to be filled at Deputy Commissioner level. Minister said that to provide quality food, cleanliness and security in the institutes these posts needs to be filled urgently. He also asked the director to take up the matter of providing proper security of the institutes with the concerned department.  
In the meeting it was decided to start new trades of computers, Beautician, Cookery and Mobile repair etc in the vocational rehabilitation centres to make youth self employed as per needs of the present hour.
Jayani after giving a peaceful detailed hearing to all the problems and grievances of the superintendants/in-charges of these institutes said that there would be no shortage of funds but the funds should be utilised properly. Minister also asked the officials to ensure paint (Kalli) in all the institutes every year. He also said that the funds especially should reach the institutes on time so that quality food could be provided to the inmates. He also gave approval to increase the amount from 3 thousand to 10 thousand per item for the purchase of ration every month.
Jayani instructed officials of the Head Office to dispose of all letters/proposals  sent by the superintendants/in-charges of these institutes within 15 days and there should be a written communication to these letters. He said that if this is not implemented then the concerned official have to face the heat.
Earlier Jaspal Singh Secretary, Social Security Department briefed the minister about the various institutes and their functioning run by the department in the state. Others prominent in the meeting included Gurkirat Kirpal Singh Director Social Security, Rajnish Kumar, Deputy Director, G.S Maur Deputy Director, superintendants and in-charges of all the institutes.
