Shimla, April 1, 2017: The State government has declared 9th April, 2017 (Sunday) as a gazetted holiday in the areas of 36- Bhoranj (S.C.) Vidhan Sabha Constituency on account of bye-election to enable the employees working in all Government Offices, Boards, Corporations, Educational Institutions and Industrial Establishments situated in Himachal Pradesh to exercise their right of franchise. This will also be a paid holiday to the daily waged employees and also within the meaning of Section-25 of Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

A spokesperson the government said the special casual leave may be given to those employees who are working in different places in the State but have a right to vote in above Vidhan Sabha Constituency, on the production of certificate from the concerned Presiding Officer that the employee has actually cast his/her vote.

No Exit Poll from 9th April to 12th April

A spokesman of Election Commission said here today that the period between 7.00 A.M. on 09.04.2017 (Sunday) and 6.30 P.M. on 12.04.2017 (Wednesday), as the period during which conducting any exit poll and publishing or publicizing by means of the print or electronic media or dissemination in any other manner whatsoever, the result of any exit poll in connection with the bye-elections Bhoranj shall be prohibited.

it is further clarified that displaying any election matter including results of any opinion poll or any other poll survey, in any electronic media, would be prohibited during the period of 48 hours ending with the hours fixed for conclusion of poll for the aforesaid bye-elections.
