9 crore 59 lakhs rupees given under Prime Minister's Matript Vandana Yojana: Raghav Sharma
Dharamshala, June 26, 2019: Under the Prime Minister Matript Vandana Yojana, a sum of about 9 crores rupees has been provided to 25166 pregnant women till date in Kangra district . This information was given by additional Deputy Commissioner Raghav Sharma. It is worth mentioning that this scheme was launched on January 1, 2017. Additional Deputy Commissioner said,”under the scheme, incentive amount of Rs 5,000 for every pregnant woman is given in 3 instalments, under which an amount of rupees one thousand is paid in the form of first instalment on the registration of pregnant mother in Anganwadi centers. Whereas to two thousand rupees each are given as second and third instalments.” ADC directed the officials to provide complete information about the schemes which are being run by the government for the welfare of pregnant women through Anganwadi centers. He said that it has been brought to his notice that Zero Balance accounts of such ladies are not being opened by bank officials, and directed the bank officials to open Zero Balance accounts of such women and ensure payment of amount in their correct account. There are 748 women centres in the district . He said that the main objective of this scheme is to empower women at the village level. In addition to this, it is important to be aware of other major aspects including the children's health care, their food and girls education. He told that meetings have been organized under the chairmanship of SDMs in all the sub-divisions for successful operation of the scheme.
