Pune, November 18, 2018: Pune Running Beyond Myself (PRBM) in association with Adar Poonawalla Clean City Initiative (APCCI) felicitated the winners of Poonawalla Clean City Marathon (PCCM) held on Sunday.

The marathon received an overwhelming response with over 14,000 registrations. It was flagged off by Iron Man Milind Soman and CEO, APCCI, Krishnan Komandur, at Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex, Balewadi in Pune at 5.00am. PCCM promoted the message of physical well-being and encouraged Punekars to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

The marathon route is certified by AIMS and accredited by Maharashtra Athletics Association. The event also extended its support to the Pune Traffic Police reinforcing the need to follow safe traffic rules, Pune Municipal Corporation, Swachh Bharat Sarvekshan and Pune Smart City.

Pune Running has always been at the forefront of promoting various charity causes and this year donations were made to Teach for India, Isha Vidya, Muskaan, Bapu Trust, Lok Biradari Prakalp,  Muktangan Mitra and Adventures Beyond Barriers, in support of their noble causes.

The day began on an energetic note with the flag-off of 42.2 kms full marathon followed by categories of 21.1 km half marathon, 10 km run and 6 km fun run. In keeping with Pune Running’s motto of inclusivity of various segments of society, this event saw participation from differently abled runners including wheel chair bound paraplegic war heroes.


Adar Poonawalla, founder APCCI and the Title sponsor of the Poonawalla Clean City Marathon, has been dedicated to making cities liveable by deploying state-of-the-art equipment and technology to keep cities clean through his initiatives. He along with Milind Soman presented the elite category awards for 21K to Pradeep Singh, Maan Singh, Deepak Kumbhar, Poonam Dinkar, Monika Raut and Rishu Dal Singar.

 

Adar Poonawalla, founder APCCI, commenting on the event, said, “It was overwhelming to see the number of citizens/people who came in support of a cleaner, greener and healthier city. The marathon was aimed at promoting a healthy and active lifestyle in a clean and thriving environment; we believe we have been successful in getting the message across to the participants and the city at large. It has been APCCI’s constant endeavor to work towards creating a cleaner and healthier city, and PCCM is an integral activity to that effect. We will continue to strive towards reinforcing the message and consistently encouraging people towards adopting better lifestyle practices.”


The marathon concluded with a prize distribution ceremony wherein Pune Running along with various sponsors felicitated the winners of various categories.

 

Milind Soman also took part in the 10km marathon encourage the runners and others to adopt running as a healthy lifestyle. He has belief that this marathon will inspire citizens to transform the city into a cleaner and greener city and provide healthier life to future generations.
