5-DAY TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR FARM WOMEN FROM HIMACHAL PRADESH

Ludhiana, may 26, 2017: A five day training programme on "Propagation and production of horticultural crops with special emphasis on nursery raising techniques" for farm women from Teh. Bharmour, district Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, was organized at Regional Research Station, Ballowal Saunkhri under the aegis of Horticulture Technology Mission (HTM) from 22nd – 26th May, 2017 under the able guidance of, Dr.Manmohanjit Singh, Director, PAU Regional Research Station.

During the training programme lectures on site selection for orchards, soil sampling for soil testing, fruit nursery production, management of the orchards, disease management in the orchards, post-harvest techniques for fruits, role of bee keeping in orchards, exotic vegetable/nursery production were delivered. Hands on training for fruit nursery raising and field visit were also organized. Exposure visit to orchards of Department of Fruit Science, PAU, Ludhiana on dated 23/05/2017 and to KVK, Ropar on 25/05/2017 for bee keeping were also conducted during the training.

The feedbacks of the women farmers were very encouraging and fruitful during lectures and the concluding session of the training. Certificates to the participants were distributed by Dr. D.S. Rana, Economist, RRS, Ballowal Saunkhri. During the concluding session Dr. Vijay Kumar, Dr. Vivek Sharma, Dr. Yogesh Khokhar, Dr. Saresh, N.V., Dr. Parkash Mahala, Dr. Balkrishan Bhople, Dr. Parminder Singh Sandhu, Er. Abrar Yousuf and Dr. Rakesh Kumar were also present.
