35 Students from Dalhousie Public School Visit Community Radio Station at Panjab University
A group of 35 students from Dalhousie Public School, accompanied by four teachers, today visited the Community Radio Station 91.2 MHz Jyotirgamaya – ‘Padho aur Padhao’ at the School of Communication Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Chandigarh, 20 February 2026: A group of 35 students from Dalhousie Public School, accompanied by four teachers, today visited the Community Radio Station 91.2 MHz Jyotirgamaya – ‘Padho aur Padhao’ at the School of Communication Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
The educational visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to the functioning of a community radio station. During the session, faculty members and technical staff explained how radio programmes are planned, recorded, edited and broadcast. Students were introduced to studio equipment, sound consoles, microphones, recording software and the transmission process. They also learned about the social role of community radio in spreading awareness and education.
The visit became interactive when a few enthusiastic students volunteered to record short motivational speeches, sing songs and introduce their school on air. The experience gave them confidence and a deeper understanding of media communication.
Komal Goel, School Teacher, said, “Visiting the radio station with my Grade 5 students was an exciting and enriching experience. The students were thrilled to see how programmes are planned and broadcast live, making their learning come alive. The highlight of the visit was the recording session, where students confidently shared their thoughts and experienced the joy of being on air.”
Akshita Nirwani, Class 5 student, said, “Visiting the radio station was very interesting and enriching for me. The teachers there were very kind and gave us a chance to record our voices and be on the radio, which truly made my day. I also learned that World Radio Day is celebrated on 13 February, and it was a wonderful new experience for me.”
The school authorities expressed gratitude to Panjab University for organising such an insightful and inspiring learning opportunity for the students.
