3-day Zonal Youth Festival of D - Zone inaugurates at GNDU

C.L. Khetrapal Distinguished Professor Centre of Biomedical Research (CBMR), Lucknow and former Vice Chancellor Lucknow University inaugurated 3-day Zonal Youth Festival of D- Zone at GNDU, Amritsar by lighting the candle.

Amritsar, October 7, 2014:  A 3-day Zonal Youth Festival of D- Zone comprises of affiliated colleges from Kapurthala and Nawan Shahr District to the Guru Nanak Dev University was inaugurated here today in the Dashmesh Auditorium with great enthusiasm.
As many as 400 students-artists are participating in 20 items of Music, Theatre, Dance, Literary & Fine Arts. This festival would be concluded on October 9.
C.L. Khetrapal Distinguished Professor Centre of Biomedical Research (CBMR), Lucknow and former Vice Chancellor Lucknow University inaugurated this festival by lighting the candle. Dr. Amarjit Singh Sidhu, Dean Student Welfare and  Renu Bhardwaj, In-charge Examination were the Guest of Honour. Jagjit Kaur, Director, Youth Welfare welcomed the chief guest and student-artists. She gave details of  the activities  of the Youth Festival.
While blessing the student-artists,  Khetrapal said that cultural activities alongwith formal studies are equally important for a balanced and complete personality. He said students should participate more and more in such activities. He appericiated the rendering of Shabads and Bhajans by the students this morning.  He also appreciated the department for the national level achievements in field of culture.
Sidhu and  Renu also present their views on this occasion.  Jagjit Kaur also honoured Chief guest and other guest with momentos. Today, the festival was started with the items of Group Shabad / Bhajan followed by Group Song Indian, one act play, vaar gayan, kawashere and fine arts.
On October 8 the completion of Costume Exhibition, Skit, Mimicry, Poetical Symposium, Rangoli, Fulkari, folk song, geet gazal and mime will be organised. On the last day (October 9), the competitions of Quiz, Group dance and Gidha followed by prize distribution function will be held.
