Ludhiana, January 13, 2013: On the auspicious occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, a massive shobha yatra was taken out from various parts of the city today.

The shobha yatra started from Durga Mata Mandir and culminated at Arya College. The religious procession was given warm and rousing reception at several places. Eatables were also distributed by the devotees.

the inaugural ceremony of the yatra was performed by Punjab Minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon. In his address, he spoke about the life and works of Swami Vivekananda and said swamiji’s gave name and fame to the Nation across the world. Even today, the youths get inspiration from Swamiji, he said.

Dr. Vinay Sofat, in his address, apprised the gathering about the Swaniji’s visit to US when he had won hearts of the gathering by starting his speech with the words; “My dear brotherand sisters of America”. He recalled that Swami Vivekananda had spoken about Nation, its culture and Saints.

Among others, Govind Gaudham’s Sunder Das Dhameja, CS Talwar, Meenakshi Didi, Durga Mata Mandir president Prem Gupta, KC gupta, Commissioner RK Gupta, Partap Singh Boparai of Guru Gobind Singh Study Circle, Simarjit Singh Bains (MLA), RSS Sah Vibhag Sangh Chalak Ram Lal, RSS Vibhag Sangh Chalak Phool Chand Jain, Mahanagar Sanghchalak Master Ram lal, District Sangh Chalak Sudesh Kapila, BJP District President Parveen Bansal, Ludhiana Improvement Trust former chairman MM Vyas and Ravinder Arora, president, Samvedna Trust were also present.

Eight thousand books on the life of Swami Vivekanand were also distributed before the start of shobha yatra, which passed through different parts, including Fountain Chowk and Shree Dandi Swami Chowk.
