Irrigation department announces rotational irrigation programme from August 31 to September 7

Chandigarh, August 30, 2013: The Irrigation Department, Punjab has announced the Rotational Programme for irrigation for the kharif Season through Canal water from from August 31 to September 7. The channels and branches off-taking from Ropar Head Works, the channels of Sirhind Canal System would run on the priority basis from Abohar Branch, Patiala Feeder, Bathinda Branch, Bist Doab canal and Sidhwan Branch, respectively.

Disclosing this here today a spokesman of the Irrigation Department said that the distributaries and branches of BML, Ghaggar Link and its off-taking channels i.e. Ghaggar Branch and Patiala Minor, in Group ‘B’, being in the first preference, would run to their indent. Balance water supplies available, would be utilized in Direct Distributaries of Group ‘A’.

The spokesman further said that Punjab channels and branchs off-taking from Harike and Ferozpur Head Works, Abohar Branch off-taking from Sirhind Feeder and its distributaries, in Group ‘B’ being in first preference, would run to their indent. Balance water supplies available, would be utilised in Direct Distributaries of Sirhind Feeder in Group ‘A’.

The spokesman also said that the in the Upper Bari Doab Canal system, Kasur Branch Lower with its distributaries, being in the 1st preference, would run to their indent. Balance water supplies available, would be utilised in Sabhroan Branch, Lahore Branch & Main Branch Lower and with their distributaries, respectively.
